One of the joys of parenthood? Having your kiddo dive to the bottom of the lake for you to get your bass unstuck.
Fishing is an activity that all ages can enjoy. The hobby is often passed down from generation to generation, and it looks like fishing is very much a staple of the Weston family. The three kids – River, Rocky and Rone – live out west (looks like in Utah), and they get into all kinds of stuff on their Instagram page: “The Wild Westons.”
That being said, much of their content revolves around fishing, and one of their latest videos is getting a lot of attention online. The three brothers and their fathers were out on the water kayak fishing when the dad hooked a bass. Unfortunately, the large-mouth got snagged up in the weeds of the lakebed.
Fortunately, the patriarch of the Weston family had one of his fearless young kids with him.
Rocky Weston went diving down to the bottom of the lake to locate the fish and try to get it unstuck. It took a couple of trips down and back up to the surface, but eventually, the kiddo was able to tell exactly where the bass was hung up. There’s nothing worse than getting a line – or a fish on the line – stuck in the weeds. In this situation, the solution was to go down after it, and that’s exactly what Rocky did.
While the father kept a hold of the fishing pole, one of the three “Wild Westons” swam down to the bottom of the lake (it looked like it was pretty shallow where they were). And I’d rather you see how Rocky ends up getting the bass out of the water… so without further ado, check out the footage below:
“When your dad catches a big bass but is too scared of the weeds to go get it… we now realize why he brings us along on fishing trips.”
Not exactly an absolute giant” dad was raving about, but a pretty nice fish. But regardless of the catch, that’s a pretty brave kid right there… I’m not sure I would have blindly grabbed up a bunch of weeds like that.
Clearly the “Wild Westons” like to spend a lot of time outdoors. Scroll through their social media page and you’ll see plenty of adventures that the brothers have gotten to embark on. Their biggest video ever is footage of them pulling in a massive pike while ice fishing, but the video above could be on it’s way to becoming another popular video on their page.
Social media users that stumbled across the clip were impressed by Rocky’s sticktuitiveness, and a couple of people even took a jab at the father… implying maybe he should have been the one diving to the bottom of the lake to retrieve his own bass:
“Now that’s what you call a great fisherman.”
“The Weston boys to the rescue!”
“Get that kid ice cream, and whatever he wants!”
“Kid deserves a raise.”
“Rocky is the man of the house now.”
“Had that kid risking his life for that 3 pound ‘absolute giant.'”
“Dad, raising the man he never was.”
Boom… roasted.
