Dutton Ranch is a massive hit, and Paramount has the numbers to prove it.

Let’s cut to the chase… it’s not surprising that the Yellowstone spinoff everyone has been waiting for did well. Fans of the flagship series have been chomping at the bit to see Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser reprise their roles as Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler in Dutton Ranch. That’s especially the case after the show was described as “Yellowstone Season 6,” leading up to its premiere on May 15.

That was evidently more than enough to get droves of fans to tune in. And now, Paramount+ is sharing exactly how many fans flocked to the streaming service to watch the two-episode premiere. Variety reported that the Beth and Rip-focused spinoff drew in a staggering 12.9 million viewers in its first week, which is enough to hand Dutton Ranch the title of “Biggest Series Launch” in the history of Paramount+:

“Per Paramount data, the first two episodes of the series reached 12.9 million views within seven days of their release, with both episodes dropping on May 15. That is well beyond the previous holder of the record for biggest Paramount+ launch, which was the 8.8 million views achieved by the series premiere of ‘Mobland’ in 2025.”

No other way to put it… that’s massive viewership.

And Dutton Ranch faired well on linear television as well. Paramount+ decided to also air the two episodes on their Paramount television channel, and according to data from Nielsen, the two episodes averaged just shy of 3 million total viewers for the night. In other words, fans went to wherever they could to watch the show, and clearly supported the return of two of Yellowstone‘s most popular characters.

It’s just another example of Taylor Sheridan’s name holding tremendous weight in the modern age of television and streaming. Just a couple of months ago, his original series The Madison achieved massive ratings in its first 10 days of availability. In just over a week, the series starring Pfeiffer and Russell brought in 8 million viewers. That translated to the largest launch for a Taylor Sheridan original series on streaming, and it was also the most popular series launch for the demographic of women ages 35 and older.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: never doubt Taylor Sheridan. The pull that anything with his name on it has is remarkable, and there’s truly no one else in the industry like him. I guess that’s why NBCUniversal was willing to pay him over $1 billion deal to come over and work for them.

The first three episodes of Dutton Ranch are currently available on Paramount+. One new episode will hit the streaming service every Friday, in addition to airing on the Paramount Network at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Weekly episodes will follow all the way through July 3rd, when the series airs its season finale.

No need to panic though… with the numbers that Season 1 has already put up, there’s a very high likelihood that Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler will return for a Season 2.
