Lainey Wilson is having a moment.

The country star just scored a huge honor from CMT, being named the network’s Breakout Artist of the Year at the upcoming 2022 CMT Artists of The Year event.

This is just the latest in a string of impressive achievements for Wilson, who has also recently topped the charts with a No. 1 hit with Cole Swindell, “Never Say Never”; been added to the cast of the hit TV show Yellowstone; and is set to release her highly-anticipated album Bell Bottom Country later this month.

The young country star is fresh off a sweep at the ACM Awards, where she took home three trophies, including ‘New Female Artist of the Year’ and ‘Song of the Year’, while also bagging six nominations ahead of this November’s CMA Awards.

For CMT’s SVP of Music & Talent, Leslie Fram, the choice was clear:

“When it came to naming ‘Breakout Artist,’ Lainey Wilson was unquestionably our only choice this year.”

Lainey Wilson showed her gratitude and appreciation for the moment:

“This past year has been a wild ride. To be considered for this award reinforces that the years of hard work my team and I have put in was all worth it.

The team at CMT feels like family, and the way they genuinely support artists on their platform is so special and important for dreamers like me.”

Wilson will be honored on Friday as this year’s TV special airing from Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center on October 14th.

Other CMT Artists of the Year honorees this year include Carly Pearce, Cody Johnson, Kane Brown, Luke Combs, and Walker Hayes, while the legendary Alan Jackson will be named “Artist of a Lifetime.”
