Florida Man Wakeboards Flooded Streets Despite Hurricane Ian

Florida man

The latest announcements regarding Hurricane Ian have been concerning Florida residents as the eyewall of the almost Cat 5 hurricane continues to have its dangerous winds growing in strength while carving its way towards the Gulf.

The National Weather Service in Tampa posted an “Extreme Wind Warning” for much of Charlotte County including Cape Coral, Estero, Bonita Springs, and Sanibel until 12:45 a.m.

The warning reads:

“Treat these imminent extreme winds as if a tornado was approaching and move immediately to an interior room or shelter NOW!”

Although alarming, the posted information didn’t stop this Florida man from getting his wakeboarding fix.

The reckless adventurer was seen surfing the flooded streets of Marathon, Florida, pulled by a pickup truck submerged in water. Some spectators cheered the man and a bystander caught the whole thing on video:

As a surfer myself I can see how fun the experience could have been, but the seriousness of the current situation should not be underestimated.

After an overnight tornado touched down in Pembroke Pines at North Perry Airport, the dangerous winds flipped several planes upside down, and are causing many to wonder about the possible impacts of the storm.

At least two people have already died in Cuba and millions are without power.

This is the second major hurricane of the 2022 season, and probably a better time to choose activities such as playing dominoes inside.

Stay safe, y’all.

Oh, and be on the lookout for Lane Pittman… he might be about to send Hurricane Ian to the pits of Hell.

Maybe…
