Charles Wesley Godwin Delivers Stellar Performance Of “Family Ties” Below Seneca Rocks

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Charles Wesley Godwin might be the most talented artist in country music.

Over the last few years he has proven to be a spectacular songwriter and storyteller with his 2019 debut album Seneca, and last year’s masterpiece How the Mighty Fall.

In the eight months since his last album was released, Godwin has consistently showcased several unreleased songs on YouTube, giving fans the opportunity to see some of the content he’s been working on. One of my favorites, “Family Ties,” first hit YouTube back in May.

Now, a new live version of Godwin performing “Family Ties” for RadioWV was posted to their YouTube, and it is an absolute must watch. A platform that promotes music from West Virginia and the surrounding Appalchian areas, RadioWV aptly recorded this video of Godwin beneath West Virginia’s Seneca Rocks.

They took to Instagram yesterday to announce the video’s release.

“We caught up with Morgantown native Charles Wesley Godwin for the first time in a few years, he has some great new songs on the way, this is one of them!”

A native of Morgantown, West Virginia, much of Godwin’s music and song content draws on his experiences and the experiences of those around or before him in the Appalachian region.

“Family Ties” is no exception, and in true CWG fashion, his distinct vocals and impressive lyricism add to the authenticity of his music.
