Warren Sapp Claims Colin Kaepernick’s Workout With The Raiders Was A “Disaster,” Kap’s Agent Disagrees

Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick recently worked out with the Las Vegas Raiders, in an effort to get back in the NFL for the first time since 2016.

Although Kap has been training for quite sometime, many wondered how he would fare, considering he hasn’t played a live snap in nearly six years.

With that being said, one Hall of Famer heard that Kap’s workout was subpar. In fact, he heard it was downright awful, and it was no other than former Raiders great Warren Sapp.

The 49-year-old said in an interview with VladTV:

“I heard it was a disaster… I heard it was one of the worst workouts ever.”

He never revealed who exactly made those claims, but added that he was surprised footage from the workout never leaked:

“I’m wondering how the hell this happened… and the tape didn’t get out, right?”

The workout happened in late May, but the Raiders organization has been very quiet about how it went, and have declined to comment on specifics.

However, Kaepernick’s agent Jeff Nalley rebuttled Sapp’s claims, telling Pro Football Talk:

“I guess Warren didn’t talk to the General Manager or the head coach. I spoke to G.M. (Dave Zieger) several times and he said they all thought Kap was in great shape and threw the ball really well and encouraged any team to call him about the workout and he would tell them the same.”

He added:

“I’m surprised Warren would say that, because it’s not true and you would think he would want Kap on a team.”

Kaepernick’s workout came after he compared the NFL Combine to slavery late last year in his Netflix special, while also later noting that he wanted to get back into the league.

Colin Kaepernick Said He’s Willing To Take A Job As A Backup In The NFL

After years of being out of the NFL, former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick just wants an opportunity to play again, even if that means coming in as a backup.

According to TMZ, the 34-year-old sat down for an interview with former NFL stars Chad Johnson and Adam “Pacman” Jones and Brandon Marshall for an episode of I AM ATHLETE, after a workout near the House of Athlete facility in Weston, Florida.

Marshall asked Kaepernick if he was willing to take a role like Carmelo Anthony in the NBA, where the legend took a minimum veteran salary of about $2.6 million to play a small role for the Los Angeles Lakers.

That’s when Kaep responded yes, as long as he gets the starting job eventually after proving he’s the best:

“I know I have to find my way back in. So, if I have to come in as a backup, that’s fine.

But that’s not where I’m staying. And when I prove that I’m a starter, I want to be able to step on the field as such. I just need that opportunity to walk through the door.”

Kaepernick hasn’t played in an NFL game since 2016, and has long accused the league of blackballing him for taking a knee against racial injustice and police brutality during the National Anthem.

He also filed a lawsuit against the NFL back in 2019 over the matter, and even compared the NFL Combine to slavery in his Netflix Documentary, Colin Kaepernick in Black & White.

In the clip, you hear Kaepernick compare the NFL to slavery, as NFL coaches put you through a bunch of exercises and tests to see if you have what it takes to make it into the league.

While he describes it, the video of a few football players transforms into a slave auction.

“What they don’t want you to understand is what’s being established is a power dynamic.

Before they put you on the field, teams poke, prod, and examine you.

Searching for any defect that might affect your performance. No boundary respected. No dignity left intact.”

And yet, he seems extremely desperate to get back into the league…
