Colin Kaepernick with the hot take of the year.

The former 49ers quarterback hasn’t been in the NFL since 2016, and he just released his own documentary with Netflix, titled Colin In Black and White.

I’ll be the first to say I don’t know much about the documentary thus far, and will watch it in its entirety before making a judgement on the whole film, but a small clip from the show has thrown Twitter in a frenzy.

In the clip, you hear Kaepernick compare the NFL to slavery, as NFL coaches put you through a bunch of exercises and tests to see if you have what it takes to make it into the league. While he describes it, the video of a few football players transforms into a slave auction.

“What they don’t want you to understand is what’s being established is a power dynamic.

Before they put you on the field, teams poke, prod, and examine you.

Searching for any defect that might affect your performance. No boundary respected. No dignity left intact.”

Needless to say, several people on Twitter went off on Kaepernick, who’s made millions and millions of dollars in the NFL, while also pointing out that Kap has been trying to get back into the NFL for years.
