Netflix & ‘Squid Game’ Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk Confirm Season 2 Is A Go

It’s officially official.

I think I can speak for any viewer when I say brains continue to process the absolute insanity Squid Game brought us last year.

I mean c’mon, I’ll never be able to look at simple games like red light, green light, hopscotch, and hell, even pin the tail on the donkey the same ever again, due to the sole fact that there may be a sniper in the background willing to shoot me dead if I mess up.

With that being said, Netflix and creator Hwang Dong-hyuk have officially confirmed that a Squid Game sequel is in the works.

Hwang said:

“And now, Gi-hun returns. The Front Man returns, Season 2 is coming.”

Gi-hun, the main character who is a divorced gambler, will be back in full force, and Hwang also teased that new characters and plot developments will be featured in the new season.

He continued:

“The man in the suit with ddakji might be back.”

He’s talking about the salesman who first invites Gi-hun to compete in the games while he is down on his luck financially, even though he doesn’t reappear in season one.

Hwang also noted that Cheol-su will be one of the new characters, as he’s the boyfriend of the evil doll, Young-hee.

He also weighed in on the unforeseen success the first season saw last year:

“It took 12 years to bring the first season of Squid Game to life last year… but it took 12 days for Squid Game to become the most popular series ever.

There’s been so much demand, love and attention for a season two. So I feel I have no choice but to make a season two.”

Buckle up.
