Hunter Takes Antler To The Eye Socket, Shares Gruesome Injury Photos: “It Went Slightly Into My Brain”

Red Stag injury

When the hunter becomes the hunted…

A hunter from Poland was in the middle of a hunt, when a young red stag came charging back at him through the tall brush.

Unable to get a clear view of deer, and with little to no time to react, the poor hunter stood there and got absolutely railroaded by the charging stag.

Sure enough, the end result was quite messy…

The antler pierced up above his eye, through the socket, into his skull, and even tickled his brain a little.

“This video captured a rare driven hunt situation. A young red stag (red deer male) was going out of the drive. At the last moment, he saw me standing at the position.

He decides that his best option is to attack me. So he did. Stag turns in my direction and hits my head with his antlers.

I didn’t pass out but I was struggling to get up for 10 minutes with blood coming out from the left eye area. One of the antler spikes broke my skull in the eye socket area. Then it went slightly into my brain.”

How the man isn’t dead is a miracle in itself:

“After this event, I had to spend nearly one month in the hospital with two surgeries.

Just to clarify in Poland we have regulations about taking red stags. I didn’t have a chance to properly judge this stag. So I decided not to shoot him.

In 99.9 % of those kinds of situations, red deer choose to run away from a hunter. This one has a different idea which is very rare.”

And now, we have a few more details about the hunt that nearly turned deadly.

The hunter has been identified as Leszek Kaminski, and was hunting in the forests near Chelm, southeast Poland, according to the Daily Mail.

In the video, you see the massive stag charge Kaminski and take him down.

The Injuries

Kaminski, who is a hunting blogger, posted to his site after the incident, and described the gruesome injury:

“Fortunately, the eye muscles and nerves are intact and the puffiness is getting smaller.

We must remember that any animal, regardless of its size, will attack when it feels threatened. As you can see, a charging stag can be a great threat to a hunter.”

The injury resulted in him checking into the hospital for a month, as it required two surgeries to repair the damage, but ultimately, it looks like he’ll make a full recovery.

The incident occurred before Christmas, but has just been posted.

Needless to say, those PETA freaks published an article celebrating the injury, as did a number of scumbag commenters:

“An eye for an eye. Respect to the deer.”

“It was a pleasure to watch it.”

“Good job my deer.”

However, since Poland has strict regulations on shooting stags, Kaminski did the right thing by not pulling the trigger as it came charging towards him.

Rather than shooting the wrong deer, he took a damn antler through the eye socket… hardly the bloodthirsty monster these ignorant anti-hunting lunatics make him out to be.

It’s just one of those one in a million situations, and luckily enough, both the stag and the hunter were able to walk away and make full recoveries.

And if you’re not familiar, Red Deer are one of the largest species of Cephids, larger than whitetail, reindeer and mule deer, but smaller than elk and obviously moose.

Native to Europe and some parts of Western Asia, and parts of Northern Africa, however has been introduced in a number of other countries and continents as well.

In the video below, you can watch MeatEater’s Steve Rinella on the hunt for a New Zealand Red Stag… without getting ran over by one.
