Steve Smith Trolls Adam Schefter, NFL Media By Announcing He’s Joining The Giants Coaching Staff: “You Don’t Need It, Scoop Is Here”

There is no one I miss playing for the Carolina Panthers more than the one and only Steve Smith.

Okay, maybe he’s tied with Luke Kuechly as my favorite (that’s a story for a whole other post), but he was truly a one of a kind wide receiver with a larger than life personality to match.

And while he tended to rub some people the wrong way, never backing down from a fight and sometimes starting them (which I admittedly loved), he was one of the greatest football players we ever had, and in my opinion, a future Hall of Famer.

But, he has quite an incredible sense of humor, and recently took to Twitter to troll the hell out of NFL reporters Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport, saying he was joining the Giants coaching staff and was breaking the news himself, subsequently name dropping them in the video and tagging them in the post:

“BREAKING NEWS. I’m officially joining the Giants coaching staff. Coming straight from the source himself. No need to hear it Adam Schefter or Ian Rapoport.”

Adam Schefter prematurely announced Tom Brady’s retirement earlier this year, which Tom eventually confirmed, though he has since unretired and plans to return as the quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this season.

Check out Steve’s video:

A number of players, former players, broadcasters, reporters and more in the industry congratulated him on the new position.

Of course, it was all in good fun, and he’s not actually joining the New York Giants coaching staff. He was just in town for a quick visit, but hell, I wish we’d hire him to coach here in Charlotte…

Steve Smith always comes out on top. Winners win, that’s all there is to it:

“It’s May but I definitely got you like it was April. Appreciate the Giants for having me today. Headed back to Charlotte.”

The Giants later confirmed that he wasn’t a coach with the team, although he did talk to some of the DBs.
