Talk about risking your whole life for your son.
Cody Hooks was competing in a bull riding competition at the Bell County Expo Center in Belton, Texas this past Saturday, when he ran into a terrifying encounter with a bull.
Shortly after being released from the gate, Hooks was bucked off the enraged bull, and was completely knocked out after hitting his head hard on what appeared to be the bull itself.
Unable to move and unconscious at the moment, Cody’s dad, Landis, who’s a former Professional Bull Rider in his own right, jumped out to check on his son.
While he was out there, he noticed the bull changing direction, and charging straight back at them.
The man had to think fast, and quickly covered up his helpless son as the bull lowered his horns into Landis.
The dad took a nasty hit, when it could’ve easily been his unconscious son, making his injuries even worse.
Landis appeared to be unscathed, as he looked up immediately afterwards.
Cody noted on an Instagram post:
“Not one to post falling off, but big thanks to my dad Landis Hooks and the bullfighters last night in Belton, Texas, could’ve been a hella lot worse.”
Thank God for dads, am I right?
It’s great to see everybody was able to walk away from the scary scene.
