Zach Bryan… man of the people.
Despite his uncanny ability to get you deep in your feels, maybe even crying over a glass of dark liquor on the rocks, the man is a constant force of positivity and encouragement on social media.
Quick, to respond, quick with a joke, quick with some uplifting words, the man is a must-follow on Twitter if nowhere else.
This past weekend, he took some time to answer fans questions about some of his songs, diving into the stories behind the real meaning of his songs.
Known for his captivating songwriting ability, the kind of songs that reach out and grab you somewhere deep down in your soul, it’s such a gift to hear about the inspiration behind them.
“Condemned”
1/ That was the third song I ever posted on Twitter. I wrote out the line, ‘mama said I’d never be condemned’ I repeated condemned in my head a few times and wrote ‘I’m condemned, I’m condemned oh my hearts around the bend’ and it evolved into what it is https://t.co/r1GwyMDZFU

3/ we were all drunk as hell and my redneck buddy came up while we were recording it and we laughed our asses off because we were so grateful to be done but also he said ‘that’s a banger’ in the most country accent at the end. Then we spelled it wrong

“Heading South”
I was at work with the Navy, a chief that used to yell at me everyday when I was becoming an ordnance team leader really bugged me.
I was jaded when I went home one day, I wrote out, ‘in a world full of people out to cut his young ass down’ and the rest came in three minutes https://t.co/qeqDDk892a— Zach Bryan (@zachlanebryan) February 6, 2022
“Mine Again”
ppl think mine again is about substance abuse, which songs are meant for interpreting, but to me it was about taking myself out of a pretty rough place in my life where I didn’t feel like my old self anymore and I was becoming what people wanted me to be instead of who I always was https://t.co/p3a7425p9e

“Cold, Damn Vampires”
Okay last one: there were people in my life that I thought at the time were taking advantage of me. The producer of Quiet, Heavy Dreams (my favorite British man of all time) said to me one night, “don’t let these blood sucking vampires rip the life and love out of you’ https://t.co/LhKnzZE9Ko
