Joshua Ray Walker Delivers Funky ‘Tonight Show’ Performance Of “Sexy After Dark”

Feelin’ Sexy After Dark in primetime.

For anybody who missed Joshua Ray Walker’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon debut last night, you missed out BIG time.

The 29-year-old performed his song “Sexy After Dark,” from his 2021 album See You Next Time, and needless to say he had the crowd rocking with the jazzy hit.

Throw in the saxophone and steel guitar, it was truly a work of art.

However, what a lot of us didn’t know is that the night was an emotional one for Walker.

When he announced that he would be playing the gig via Instagram, he had a heartfelt tribute to his good friend Trey Johnson, co-founder of State Fair Records, who passed away unexpectedly two days ago, who he described as his “music dad.”

He wrote in the post:

“As life goes, extreme highs come with extreme lows, but not always this close together. Yesterday we lost Trey Johnson. He was a mentor, a friend, a brother, a beacon of positivity, and more recently a father figure to me after my dad passed. I always jokingly referred to him as my “music dad”. He was so many things to so many people. No one was more proud or excited about this Tonight Show appearance. I would have never gotten close to having this opportunity without him.”

“This doesn’t scratch the service of what I have to say about Trey, but there will be time for that later. Tonight we celebrate what we accomplished together, and we get to do one of his favorite things, which is bringing people together through music. #thisonesfortrey”

Needless to say, ol’ Joshua Ray was playing for his good buddy last night, and delivered an epic performance.
