Bringing in the A-listers, eh?

According to Deadline, the first two episodes of the upcoming Yellowstone prequel, 1883, are going to premiere tomorrow at Wynn Las Vegas.

And in the second episode, folks that are lucky enough to attend the premiere are going to recognize Academy Award-winning actor Tom Hanks, who will be playing a three-star general in the Union Army.

His character is actually inspired by General George Meade, who’s best known for defeating Confederate General Robert E. Lee at the Battle of Gettysburg

Deadline gives a brief description of the scene:

“A famous photograph of the carnage in the brutal Civil War Battle of Antietam comes to life, with Tim McGraw’s James Dutton character picking himself off the ground following the concussive conflict.

A Confederate officer, Dutton can only sit dazed as he surveys death all around him. As Union troops approach, a gloved hand falls on Dutton’s shoulder. He looks up and it is a sympathetic three-star general, inspired by General George Meade.”

Just one of a number of surprises Taylor Sheridan will deliver fans, Hanks shot his scene in one day this past September, outside Weatherford, Texas.

With an estimated 22,717 casualties in total, the Battle Of Antietam (September 17th, 1862) remains the deadliest one-day battle in American military history.

1883 is set to premiere on December 19th, exclusively on Paramount+.

Starring Sam Elliott and country music’s own power couple Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, 1883 is the story of how the Duttons came to settle in Montana, making their way from Texas across the treacherous Great Plains to settle on the modern day Dutton Ranch property.

Tim and Faith are set to play James and Margaret Dutton, the patriarch and matriarch of the Dutton family, while Elliott will take on the role of Shea Brennan, the hardnosed cowboy tasked with leading the expedition.

Billy Bob Thornton, Isabel May and LaMonica Garrett are also set to star in the show, as well as Audie Rick, Marc Rissmann, Eric Nelsen and James Landry Hébert.
