Evan Felker Performs Solo Renditions Of “7 & 7” And “Every Girl” To Raise Money For Charity

Evan Felker country music

Ladies and gentlemen, nature is healing.

Earlier this week, we received the incredible news that the great Evan Felker was slated to appear at a virtual benefit concert for Cystic Fibrosis, led by Rhett Miller, lead singer for the Old 97’s.

Needless to say, I lit up like a kid on Christmas morning.

Honestly, Evan Felker and the Turnpike Troubadours were a game changer for me when it comes to country music, and to this day, I still have to credit them for rescuing me from the pits of bro-country hell.

Turnpike has been on a well-publicized hiatus since 2019, so I don’t need to get into all that, but damn does it feel good to hear this man sing again.

He played two songs, including “Every Girl,” and one of my personal favorites, “7&7.”

Now, I’m not saying Turnpike will be getting back together anytime soon (even though I’d give away my life savings if they did), but we’re taking some encouraging baby steps in the right direction.

We saw Evan play a live show for the first time since getting sober earlier this year, and on our podcast with RC Edwards and steel player Hank Early they didn’t dismiss the possibility that the band could be joining forces again later down the road.

At the end of the day, it’s just great to see Evan doing well, healthy, happy, and holding a guitar again.

Other performers included Rhett Miller, Joshua Ray Walker, Pat Green, Cody Canada, Todd Snider, The O’s, and Prophets and Outlaws, but if you missed the stream, you can still give a donation HERE.
