Luke Combs Remembers Charley Pride With Performance Of Hit Single, “Kiss An Angel Good Morning”

That hitter…

Charley Pride has a number of hit songs, probably more than you’d even realize. But it’s pretty damn hard to argue that “Kiss An Angel Good Morning” isn’t the biggest.

Written by Ben Peters, “Kiss An Angel Good Mornin’” was released by Charley in 1971, the lead single from his Charley Pride Sings Heart Songs album.

And when you’re honoring the memory of the late, great Charley Pride with his biggest hit, you gotta bring in the big guns. And arguably the biggest gun in country music right now… Luke Combs.

Prior to the performance, Luke spoke on the impact Charley has had on the country music world:

“Willie Nelson, Charley Pride, and Merle Haggard… those are some heavy hittin’ names.

This is a trailblazer for everybody in country music regardless if you’re 20 years old, or your 55 or 60 years old. Charley is somebody that influenced you in a lot of ways.”

Luke was joined by the talented Reyna Roberts on piano/vocals and phenomenal steel player Robert Randolph… the kind of powerhouse triple threat that a great song like “Kiss An Angel Good Morning” deserves.
