Dolly Parton Delivers Impromptu Performance Of “Coat Of Many Colors” At Irish Pub Back In 1990

Dolly Parton… international superstar.

Some celebrities, whether they’re musicians, actors, athletes, whatever… can reach a level of fame that surpasses national boundaries. Michael Jordan, The Rock, Taylor Swift… no matter where they go in the world, they’re instantly recognized.

Dolly Parton is one of the few country music stars to reach that level of notoriety.

Back around 1990, Dolly Parton was on vacation in Europe when she stopped into a local Irish pub, Páidí Ó Sé’s, in the southwestern corner of Ireland.

And when Dolly walked into that pub, it turns out the guitar player immediately recognized her, and wasn’t going to miss his chance to play a song with the legendary Dolly Parton.

Lucky for him, (and all of us), she obliged.

“Well, hello… and welcome to Ireland. My name is Dolly and I’m on vacation. I was not going to sing tonight. I was going to be entertained. He says he knows my song ‘Coat Of Many Colors’ and he asked me to sing it.

We don’t know how this is going to sound because this is a first for both of us, but this is a song I wrote and it’s a true story from my own life and I’m sure a lot of you folks can relate to it.”

Just lookin’ to have a few pints with the lads, but when she gets called on stage, she answers the call… you gotta love it.

And just think how many people still tell that story about the time Dolly Parton walked into the bar and performed a song.
