Jamey Johnson Singing “In Color” With His Dad Is Exactly Why Live Music Is So Damn Important

Talk about moments…

We’re well aware Jamey Johnson’s “In Color” is one of the best, most emotional, goosebump-giving songs in country music history. When he plays it live, the lights go down and the crowd comes together, arms around each other, and every person sings every word. I’ve been at a lot of concerts, but can easily say being a part of one of those moments was one of the most surreal five minutes of my life.

As good as those moments are in every live show he does, there was one night that stands out among the special.

In 2019, at JD Legends in Franklin, Ohio, Jamey Johnson sang “In Color” joined by a special guest… his father.

The two shared the stage and created a moment that they’ll remember for the rest of their lives. How proud must his dad be, every fan mesmerized by the greatness of your boy. That’s something that doesn’t happen every day, or quite honestly in every life.

While he’s still out playing his catalog of songs, I sure do wish we would get some new music from him soon. Fingers-crossed.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ll be listening to this song for the rest of the night…

And how about a little “Long Black Veil.”
