Kenny Chesney Releases Reflective New Music Video For “Knowing You”

After teasing the country music world with a number clips (and sending a giant, movie-sized poster to the office), Kenny Chesney has finally released the cinematic music video for his new single, “Knowing You.”

If you have watched Chesney’s past music videos, you know he loves to place emphasis on scenery, making you feel like you are a part of the story. He’s continued that visually-striking streak with “Knowing You,” this time however, he’s primarily trading the beach for a foggy New England coastline.

“One of the things about this video I love is the way you can feel the settings. And each location… whether in Gloucester, Mass. or the Virgin Islands, was selected because it feels the way these emotions actually feel.

As I’ve said, over and over lately, the people who come into your life and then are gone, it’s for any number of reasons. But beyond missing them, you have the opportunity to recognize what they brought to your life and be thankful.”

Kenny also delivers a poignant voice-over at the beginning of the video:

“Not everything is meant to last… you don’t think about that when it’s perfect. And when it’s over, there’s a huge hole… but there’s also a pair of wings.”

Directed by award-winning director Shaun Silva, Chesney’s intent is to allow viewers to reminisce, to immerse themselves in the good memories. Yet at the same time, with the ultimate goal of looking forward and focusing on what’s next:

“It’s such a pure song. If you listen, you can find the people you love in it. I wanted the video to have that, too. It’s not about being on a fishing boat freezing, but this pain you feel – and also finding gratitude for knowing someone who changed your life.

Wherever they are, you know they’re living their best life; they’re shining and doing the same thing for someone else – and that can be in this life, or the next.”

Following “Tip of My Tongue,” “Here and Now,” and “Happy Does,” “Knowing You” is the fourth single from Kenny’s #1 album, Here And Now.
