Kat Hasty: A Name You Need To Know

A woman with long hair

If you haven’t heard of Kat Hasty yet, you need to give her a listen ASAP.

The up-and-coming artist released her first five songs back in March as part of her two-part Drowning in Dreams EP, and has quickly amassed millions of listens. A West Texas native, she has taken the Texas scene by storm, reminiscent of a 2005 Kerosene-era Miranda Lambert.

Managed by fellow Texas musician Dalton Domino, she’s been able to make a name for herself and continues to grow her grassroots following despite not being able to tour much, another impressive feat. Go ahead and get on the bandwagon now, because Kat Hasty is fixin’ to blow up soon.

More is sure to be on the way soon, but in the meantime, here are a few songs to get you started.

“Pretty Things”

Her most popular song so far, “Pretty Things” already has nearly 3 million listens on Spotify.

“Cause I’m never gonna be
Your southern Texas wanna be beauty queen
And I’m never gonna be
Your red dress only, blonde hair southern dream
I know I’m more than just the pretty things
And that’s alright by me”

“City of Shame”

“Where the poor got rich and they went insane
Spendin’ all their money trying to kill the pain
The poor got rich and they went insane
On an oil rig in the city of shame”

“He Belongs to the Night”

“The Highway Song”

The other Hasty song that has surpassed a million streams, “The Highway Song” is another must listen.
