Lee Brice Tests Positive For COVID-19, Cancels Performance At CMA Awards

Lee Brice is the latest country artist to test positive for COVID-19, and it couldn’t have come at a worse time.

Lee was scheduled to perform his duet with Carly Pearce, “I Hope You’re Happy Now,” at the 54th Annual CMA Awards this Wednesday, however, he will no longer be able to perform.

A representative for Brice told The Associated Press on Sunday that he is “in good spirits and not experiencing any symptoms.”

The statement also added that, “Lee would like to thank the CMAs and all of his incredible fans for his nominations and is wishing his fellow nominees an incredible evening celebrating the best of country music.”

According to the Country Music Association, Lee had not participated in any rehearsals prior to the positive test.

I’m not sure what this means for Carly Pearce, whether or not she’ll perform the song herself or whatnot, but Luke Combs did co-write that song with her and I think it would be pretty cool to see him pinch-hit for Lee in this situation. Just throwing that out there…

Get well soon Lee.
