Cody Johnson Delivers Knockout Cover Of Dixie Chicks’ Hit “Travelin Soldier”

Takin’ it back to 1996.

“Travelin’ Soldier” was originally written and recorded by Bruce Robison in 1996 and then released by the Dixie Chicks in 2002 where it went on to become a mega-hit.

During Cody’s most recent live stream performance, he dedicated the entire night to covers of some classic country songs. He tackled everybody from George Strait and Chris Stapleton to Merle Haggard and of course, the Dixie Chicks.

And right before he knocked a cover of “Travelin’ Soldier” out of the park, he delivered this intro:

“When I played this song, I stopped thinking… for the entirety of this set, I just hope you don’t think. I hope you just let us move with this music, and get to share our gift and touch you with it.”

Good stuff.
