Chicago Bar Owner Is Surviving Solely On Beer For Lent… And He’s Already Lost 18 Pounds

We’re officially in the Lenten season and for those of you that were sleeping in Sunday School, Lent is the 40 days leading up to Easter.

For the season of Lent, people like to give something up to commemorate the 40 days and nights Jesus spent fasting in the desert before his ministry began. Common sacrifices include things like junk food, soda and sometimes even alcohol, but recently, there has been this growing trend to give up EVERYTHING… except beer.

That’s right people, 40 days and 40 nights surviving on nothing but beer.

It sounds ludicrous and also damn near impossible. After all, 3 straight days of drinking will do all but kill me these days, but lo and behold, a Cincinnati man lost nearly 50 pounds doing it last year. You heard that correctly, he lost 50 POUNDS drinking beer.

That same Cincinnati man, Del Hall will be going for 50 days this year, but so will a Chicago bar owner.

Patrick Berger, owner of Paddy Long’s and Kaiser Tiger, will undergo the 40 day beer challenge, and according to Block Club Chicago, he’s already lost 18 pounds.

“I literally feel like I’m breathing better and just lighter on my feet. I’ve noticed the fat that was pressing up against my rib cage is gone, and I’m sleeping better.”

An American hero ladies and gentleman.

God bless him.
