Jon Wolfe Delivers An Impeccable Cover Of George Strait’s “It Ain’t Cool” Live From The Iconic Gruene Hall

If anybody knows their way around a George Strait cover, it’s Jon Wolfe.

A few years back, we showed you his cover of the 1985 hit “The Chair,” but today, we’re back with an exclusive first look at a Strait cut from Wolfe’s upcoming Live at the Legendary Gruene Hall album. If you’re playing the iconic Gruene Hall, you probably have to do a little Strait, but if you’re recording a live album at Gruene Hall, you HAVE to do a little George Strait. You just have to.

And Jon hit us with one of his all-time favorites, the 1986 hit single, “It Ain’t Cool To Be Crazy About You.”

‘It Ain’t Cool’ has been a favorite of mine going way back to when my wife Amber and I started dating. We used to go to this local beer joint and drink beer and play sad country songs on the jukebox. For some reason ‘It Ain’t Cool’ pretty much became our favorite. When I had the chance to record a live at Gruene Hall album I knew I wanted to cover a Strait song because of his history there at Gruene Hall. And of course I knew which one it needed to be. What a night this was singing this song on the same stage where George Strait got his start.”

Jon’s upcoming live album, Jon Wolfe Live at the Legendary Gruene Hall, is set for release next Friday, February 21st.
