The brand new Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, is going to open its doors for the first time next spring, and it won’t be for a Rangers game.
Nope, christening (no pun intended) the $1.2 billion dollars stadium on March 14th will be none other than Chris Stapleton and Willlie Nelson, along with Jamey Johnson and Yola. According to Rangers’ vice president of business operations Rob Matwick, this was the plan all along.
“It sort of reinforces what we’ve been talking about all along since we started this project, about how Globe Life Field will be more than just the home of the Texas Rangers. It will be a 365-day-a-year sports and entertainment venue. So, much more to come.”
The Rangers will play their first game at the new ballpark on March 23, an exhibition game against the Cardinals, with their first regular season tilt scheduled for March 31st against Joe Maddon and the Los Angeles Angels.
Tickets go on sale Friday, November 1, at 10:00 a.m. local time.
