A Moment Of Silence For The Thousands Of Bourbon Barrels We Lost Yesterday

You just hate to read a tragic story like this.

A thunderstorm sent roughly 4,000 barrels of bourbon at the O.Z. Tyler Distillery rickhouse in Owensboro, Kentucky, crashing to the ground early yesterday morning. Of the 20,000 barrels in Warehouse H, in total, about 20% were affected.

Each barrel holds about 53 gallons of delicious bourbon, but most of the barrels remained intact, according to master distiller and operations manager Jacob Call.

Back in 2016, severe winds caused Rickhouse B to partially collapse, however it wasn’t full of bourbon at the time.

Thankfully nobody was injured, yet our thoughts and prayers remain with all of the bourbon drinkers involved. I’m deeply sorry for your loss.

We will get through these hard times together.
