Keith Urban delivered a compelling performance of a new song on last night’s ACM Awards. That new song actually turned out to be a cover of Foy Vance’s “Burden,” a track from his 2016 album, The Wild Swan.
“I was riding my bicycle, and I just stopped,” Urban tells The Tennessean. “It went right into the center of me. I got back to Nashville and thought I’d love to capture how I feel about this song if I can, and here we are tonight.”
“There’s a lot of people going through hard times everywhere, and I’ve been through that,” Urban said. “This song spoke to that part of my life so profoundly, so spiritually. I just had to do it.”
Shortly after the conclusion of the ACM Awards, Keith’s version of “Burden” was released on digital platforms.
