Beer and puppies… what could be better?

To celebrate National Puppy Day this Saturday, Devils Backbone Brewery is launching a “pup-up” bar at Midlands DC Beer Garden in the Washington DC area. Their dog-friendly patio will feature “pup-tenders,” AKA dogs fitted with special vests to serve you beer.

According to Forbes, the pup-up bar will run from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday, kicking off the brewing company’s Adventure Dog contest. From Saturday March 23 until April 1, folks can vote online for the dog that they want to see as the face off their Gold Leaf Lager. The top 5 vote-getters will have their pictures printed on cans this summer.

“The Devils Backbone family doesn’t only consist of our employees, but their dog. Over the years we’ve had many fans of our beer send us photos of themselves and their own dogs enjoying adventures with DB brews, so we thought why not make it official and illustrate a few of those pups on our Gold Leaf Lager cans?”

The pup-up bar will feature five beer-serving dogs (June, Cooper, Basil, Gatsby and Maggie) all of whom are owned by Devils Backbone employees. Additionally, 7 dogs from City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties will be there to play with bar patrons, all of which will be available for adoption.
