Nothing like ranting about the plight of the common man from your multi-million dollar home with your helicopter parked out in the yard…
Superstar comedian and actor Bill Burr is making headlines after a recent episode of his Monday Morning Podcast featured an angry rant about how billionaires should be “put down like rabid dogs” because they’re hording money and dividing the regular folks in the country.
The rant was sparked after a woman wrote in to him about women’s sports, and how she’s glad that her daughter has opportunities for role models in the sports world now, but then she added that she was a mom who works full time and is still broke so that’s why she doesn’t watch professional sports.
To which, Bill said:
“There are a lot of people struggling out there because of these f***ing billionaires. And they got us all arguing ‘Liberal’ and ‘Conservative’ … we gotta stop that. I am so tired of hearing about people going to bed worried about what’s going to happen next week. There is so much f***ing money in this country and there is so much work being done. And if you work a full f***ing week at a job you should able to pay your f***ing rent. You shouldn’t have to go out and get a second job and still be struggling.
It’s bad for the country because then the kids don’t see their parents and they’re not getting the upbringing they need. These f***ing billionaires… they need to be put down, y’know, like f***ing rabid dogs. They’re like rabid with f***ing greed and just going out and dividing everybody. This time right now, how divisive we are… the Gulf of America? How the f*** does that help your wallet? It’s an empty gesture and a racist gesture… it’s just such an ugly f***ing time. It just sucks… people broke.”

I mean, I think lots of very poor people still watch sports, but I suppose that’s besides the point.
And much like our divided country, the rant had fans divided as well:
Apparently in @billburr’s latest podcast he was ranting about ppl unable to pay rent/bills due to billionaires who should be put down like rabid dogs.
Billy boy: last I checked your net worth is ~15 million.
Stfu and walk the walk, bitch!

He’s the only one who talks like this, him and Bernie, we need more

Bill Burr is completely fine with millionaires though, of which he is one. He would not be a millionaire if billionaires didn’t exist.

If Bill Burr was a billionaire instead of a millionaire he’d have a different opinion

Bill burr is a outta touch millionaire who said Cali did a good job with the fires. No bill burr is a sellout on par with Steven Colbert. Liberals have no voice or direction beyond steal from others.

Look, I like Bill Burr. He has some of the best standup specials in recent memory, his angry old man schtick hits home for a lot of millennial men who grew up with their dad yelling at them for holding the flashlight wrong… he’s a great comedian. He can rant about everyday frustrations unlike anybody in the business. Dave Chappell, maybe Louis CK, Ricky Gervais are in the conversation, but who’s really been better in the last 15 years? There’s not many that can stand up there with Bill Burr.
But my God… shut up, dude…
Like, how many of these extremely wealthy celebrities do we have to hear lecture us about how hard it is out here for regular people? Yes, life is hard for a lot of people. Yes, a lot of people are working multiple jobs just to scrape by. Yes, nobody needs a billion dollars… but I don’t know, Bill… maybe do we have any solutions or ideas other than “UGH, it’s the BILLIONAIRES KILL ‘EM ALL.!” I just don’t think it’s Elon Musk’s fault that Katie from Ohio chose to get an art history degree from Ohio State and now her only option is to make $37,000 a year teaching second graders how to paint at her local elementary school.
It’s just hilarious that a multi-million dollar celebrity who sells out arenas like Madison Square Garden rants like a retired carpenter, sitting at his kitchen table, drinking his morning coffee, angry that he just spent the last 40 years hammering nails into boards without much to show for it. That’s what my dad, a blue collar carpenter who actually isn’t retired, but should be… that’s what he should sound like, but no… he’d rather spend his free time out at the soup kitchen, or helping out with fatherless young men at the local church.
What are you doing Bill to actually help the common man? NOTHING? Ranting on a podcast from your at-home podcast studio near the Hollywood Hills? You own a helicopter, dude. And I’m not mad at you about it. Get your money, man. It’s just so absurd to hear extremely wealthy people complain about other, even more extremely wealthy people. Mean while you rub shoulders with these billionaires at your Los Angeles parties, at Netflix meetings, make all your money off productions and comedy specials that are owned and operated by billion dollar corporations like Netflix and Ticketmaster, Live Nation… your success, to this level, is fundamentally propped up by a system of billionaires.
And look, maybe Bill spends his free time quietly in the shadows, volunteering at his local soup kitchen…. Lord knows Los Angeles has a massive homeless population. Are you putting in the time and effort with that community Bill? Ranting on a podcast doesn’t help wallets, either. So let’s come up with some solutions, maybe some ideas, maybe spend some of YOUR money to help out, eh? Rather than just throwing out these lazy, virtue signaling, “kill the billionaires” rants so you can feel like you’re on the right side of some moral dilemma.
And this isn’t me “siding” with the billionaires… it’s really not. It’s just, at the end of the day, I do not care to hear extremely rich celebrities complain about other extremely rich people so they can feel less guilty about also being extremely rich. I promise you Bill, some single mom in Kansas or a maintenance man busting his a** every day in New Mexico does not hear your little rant and pump the fist of solidarity with you. Your net worth may “closer” to the minimum wage than it is to that of the billionaire, but your quality of life is certainly in a different stratosphere than my man making fries at McDonald’s.
Ricky Gervais probably said it best at the Golden Globes:
Ricky Gervais dropped some truth booms at the Golden Globes: "You’re in no position to lecture the public about anything. You know nothing about the real world. Most of you spent less time in school than Greta Thunberg." #Brovo 👏👏👏pic.twitter.com/GLSDSlcWfS
