Al Horford Sets Tone For Celtics’ Championship Parade With Drunk Tom Brady Shirt & Cowboy Hat

The people of Boston had better saddle up for the Celtics’ celebration of their 18th NBA championship if Al Horford’s attire is any indication.

This marks the first time Horford has won a title in the NBA, and at 38 years old, it’s been a hell of a long wait. He’s clearly determined to make the most of Friday’s parade, too, rocking a cowboy hat and, more importantly, a shirt featuring Tom Brady’s legendarily drunken seventh Super Bowl celebration.

When Brady fled New England after 20 years in favor of Tampa Bay, he won his seventh Bowl in his maiden season with the Buccaneers. That Florida heat was no joke, nor was the avocado-infused tequila Brady was believed to be mainlining. The GOAT was on a boat for the Bucs’ aquatic parade, and at one point, tossed the freaking Lombardi Trophy over to another boat.

Is Horford about to be slinging beers or basketballs — or the Larry O’Brien Trophy! — to his teammates or fans in the crowd this afternoon? Only time will tell. One thing’s for sure, Brady is all about what Horford is wearing:

Brady had to know this Celtics squad was special when he lent his voiceover talents to a pre-NBA Finals hype video that proved prescient, where the main message was, “Really? You want Boston?” Of course, the Dallas Mavericks were no match for the beasts from the East, who won the title in a rather stress-free five games.

Say what you will about how easy the C’s had it en route to the Finals, but they were a great, 64-win team in the regular season. They once again fulfilled Phil Jackson’s 40-20 rule, which is that any NBA champion must win 40 games before losing 20. Even if you count the playoffs, Boston had only 21 losses against 80 victories.

Within mere days of former head coach Brad Stevens transitioning to president of basketball operations, he brought Horford back to Beantown in a trade. You can tell how much the city adores the veteran big man. People were swarming him on Thursday when he went to do a guest shift at Raising Cane’s.

The parade’s proper beginning is imminent. It should be pretty lit. Horford apparently isn’t the only one dressing in a cool way for the occasion. Check out the pro wrestling-style title belt Kristaps Porzingis is sporting.

Since he’s donning the Hammered Brady shirt, I’m setting the odds at -350 that Horford is the drunkest Celtic by the end of the parade. Something tells me Derrick White could be a sneaky sleeper for that honor, though. We’ll see soon enough.
