Not all heroes wear capes.
I bet no one wakes up thinking that you’re going to do the Heimlich maneuver (well, sorta) on a raccoon, but for this group of men, it was on theirs. While having a little boys night around a bonfire, the group of men saw a raccoon that appeared to be struggling.
While I am sure the group probably approached the raccoon to try and pet the animal and then saw it was having a hard time, they knew they needed to jump into action.
The large raccoon was sitting on its back legs, and one of the men started patting it on its back. Instead of running away, the animal stayed and accepted the help as the man hit its back, trying to dislodge whatever the raccoon was choking on.
“He is choking, no? A little bit lower, Bill. Upward motion.”
Bill’s friend gets it…
As soon as the man patting the raccoon’s back takes his advice and pats its lower back with a slight upward movement, something comes flying out of the raccoon’s mouth, and the animal appears to have instant relief. The raccoon shakes its head and whole body like it is having a “holy s**t, what just happened” moment.
“I saved his life! Let’s go!”Â
The man who helped the raccoon said as it began to walk off, and the other men in the group were all cheering and freaking out that they not only helped the raccoon but also caught the rare moment on film.
What a crazy interaction and what an amazing moment when the raccoon accepted help from humans, ultimately saving its life. Bill is a real one for jumping into action and saving a life.
