An early end to his World Cup dreams.

The biggest story of the entire World Cup this year, which is being held in the United States, Mexico and Canada, has been the emergence of German soccer fan Freddy as a viral star.

While the play on the pitch has been exciting, some of the best content of the tournament has been thanks to a number of international fans documenting their trip to America.

One guy in particular has taken over the internet, a German fan named Freddy who has been documenting his trip while getting the full American experience – including Walmart, Waffle House, and Buc-ee’s.

Freddy is undoubtedly the social media star of the 2026 World Cup, and he’s been treated like royalty after going viral for his appreciation of all things America.

Earlier this month, Freddy even discovered the greatest American treasure of them all: Ella Langley.

“The best discovery of our road trip has been a musician called Ella Langley. We had never heard of her before, but after hearing her on pretty much every country radio station, we’ve become big fans. She’s basically the soundtrack of our trip.”

His tweets went so viral that he even caught the attention of Ella herself, who invited him to a show and met up with him backstage a couple weeks ago:

Well unfortunately for Freddy, his dreams of getting to see his country bring home a World Cup trophy in person came to an end yesterday when Germany fell to Paraguay after the 1-1 match ended up coming down to penalty kicks.

For Freddy though, that means that he has nearly another month in the United States and no soccer games on his calendar. So yesterday, our German friend took to social media to solicit suggestions for how he should spend the rest of his time in America.

Of course there were plenty of ideas for Freddy, from NASCAR races to visiting O Block in Chicago – which is a terrible idea, in case you’re not familiar with O Block.

But one city that Freddy hasn’t visited yet on his road trip is Nashville. It’s one of the most popular cities in the country right now, and there’s plenty to see and do here in Music City.

So I figured we would make our pitch for Nashville to be added to Freddy’s road trip with a list of must-visit sites:

1. Davidson County Juvenile Detention Center

If Freddy is a Jelly Roll fan, this one is a must-visit. It’s where the “Save Me” singer first started writing songs while locked up as a juvenile. As Jelly once recalled:

“In jail is when I really started – I had a lot of time. I was like maybe I should invest this time in something positive, and I wrote a bunch of songs.”

A truly historic site for those interested in visiting the childhood homes – er…jail cells – of country music legends.

2. The Rooftop Where Morgan Wallen Tossed A Chair

If you’re interested in country music (and Nashville) history, you have to visit the rooftop of Chief’s on Broadway. Eric Church’s bar was the site of one of the most viral stories in country music of the past decade, when superstar Morgan Wallen was arrested for throwing a chair off the rooftop of this lower Broadway bar.

It’s so historic that there’s even a plaque commemorating the spot:

Definitely a can’t-miss on any trip to Nashville.

3. Skeet Skeet Corndog

There’s no shortage of historic restaurants in Nashville, from Loveless Cafe to Elliston Place Soda Shop. But no visit to Nashville would be complete without a visit to Skeet Skeet Corndog, the famous food stand in downtown Music City that gave us one of the biggest controversies the city has ever seen: The Nashville Corn Dog Wars.

Skeet Skeet Corndog gained popularity for viral videos of their owner dancing with drunk patrons while singing along to “Get Low” by Lil Jon. But it became an institution during the Corn Dog Wars of ’25, a dispute over which “Skeet Skeet Corndog” was the real “Skeet Skeet Corndog.”

Because yes, there are multiple Skeet Skeet Corndogs. But locals can point you to the real one.

4. The Former Classic Cat Strip Club

This historic venue is no longer around, but you can still visit the site of the former Classic Cat strip club, which became infamous in Nashville history when a tequila-drinking monkey named Pete owned by one of the strippers was spooked by a boa constrictor and escaped from from the club.

5. West End Chili’s

No further explanation needed. Simply the best cuisine in the city.

So how ’bout it, Freddy? You up for a trip to Music City? We’d be happy to show you around and give you a true taste of country music history.
