There’s no talking things out for animals living in the wild.
When a dispute needs to be settled, wild animals opt to brutally battle one another, as the two grizzly bears in this video did. A confrontation regarding territory quickly morphed and escalated into a knock-down, drag-out fight between two equally sized and equipped grizzlies.
You’ve likely seen a video of bears battling it out before, but I can promise you that you’ve never seen one this gnarly. The footage below shows a vicious, no-holds-barred altercation between the two bears, and also serves a friendly (or not-so-friendly) reminder that these creatures are undoubtedly apex predators.
One of the grizzlies, which was just passing through the area, approached a bear that called this area in British Columbia home. That alone was enough to raise the tension high into the air, but to make matters worse, the local bear’s sow was nearby, as explained in the post’s caption:
“An extremely cool encounter we were fortunate to witness in British Columbia last week. This transient grizzly bear rolled up on the local dominant boar with his sow around. I imagine it was the last time he made that mistake.”
Translation: Game on.
Once the bears got within striking distance, the violent scuffle ensued right in the middle of the water. Paws and claws were thrown, and bears were body slammed (yes, body slammed). The territory and nearby female bear was more than enough to put an incredible amount of charge into this face off.
Surprisingly, the wildlife videographer that was able to capture this moment on camera (from a safe distance, of course) said that afterwards, both grizzlies walked away uninjured:
“Both bears walked away without injury after sorting out who was in charge. I think the champ secretly had some training in jiu-jitsu. Watch the power in these animals as he takes down the transient boar!”
