Here for it.
Chris Stapleton performed at the ACM Awards this past Thursday with pop singer Dua Lipa, who had reached out to him ahead of she show hoping to collab. They performed his song “Think I’m In Love With Yo,” from his 2023 Higher album, which also took home the Album of the Year award.
In addition, he took home the trophy for Male Artist of the Year, and Artist-Songwriter of the Year, so it was once again a great showing for the powerhouse vocalist.
And in an interview with Billboard ahead of the show, Chris was asked if he had any artists he wanted to work with. He’s become the country go-to for duets with people both in and outside of the genre, singing with everyone from Carly Pearce to Justin Timberlake, and it seems like he’s always happy to work with a new artist.
Stapleton has a song coming out with George Strait on Strait’s forthcoming Cowboys & Dreamers album called “Honky Tonk Hall Of Fame,” which I’m sure was a bucket list moment, but he also has dreams to work with The Beatles legend, Paul McCartney:
“I always wind up saying someone like Paul McCartney. Hero people…
I’ll put it in the universe a couple times. I’ve never met Paul McCartney, I’ve been to some shows but I’ve never met him.”
And considering the level Stapleton is at in music, and the fact that he’s just a powerhouse and incredible vocalist who can do any genre, I feel like it could actually happen one day.
McCartney joined the one and only Dolly Parton on a new rendition of “Let It Be” for her Rockstar album not long ago, so it seems as though he has some sort of interest in country music too.
Chris also mentioned working with Harry Styles, which would be interesting, but speaking of Dolly, she previously said she wanted to do an entire album with Chris, so I think we need to get that going first… they also teamed up for a cover of “Night Moves” on Rockstar, which was easily one of my favorites on the album.
