Absolute UNIT.
According to the FTW Outdoors, Jack York recently landed this 13 and a half pound monster largemouth bass on Lake Nacogdoches, a bass fishing hotspot in East Texas.
The fish was actually taken by state biologists and used to help breed more of these behemoths in Texas fisheries, but before they did, Jack got a great photo of this tank of a bucketmouth.
And boy, was it just a master class on how to hold a fish in front of a camera.
Note the arms fully extended towards the camera, fish held way off the body to give the appearance that this fish may in fact be the size of a small child. Just primo work right there, definitely not this angler’s first rodeo.
Granted, 13.5 pounds is huge bass… one that would be a state record here in my home state of Illinois. But the way he holds it out, you’d think that thing was 25 pounds.
The comments were hilarious:
“HOLD IT AS CLOSE AS YOU CAN TO ME! THIS FISH LOOKS AS BIG AS A GROWN MAN! PERFECT!”
“I bet this guy could make 120 inch buck look like a 200 inch buck.”
“Now this guy knows how to hold a fish.”
“That’s a 40” fish. Gotta be closer to 30lbs.”
“Jack must be 3’ tall.”
“I’m gonna need this photographer to take my fish pics.”
“This cameraman for hire? Could use him for some personal pics.”
“Now that is how you frame a catch. That bass is at least 4′ based on that pic.”
All kidding aside, huge congrats to Jack on this beast… what a beauty of a fish.
While Jack is pulling these hogs out of the lake in Texas, meanwhile I sitting here in Illinois waiting for the damn ice to melt… is it spring yet?
This fish is the second Legacy Class fish of 2023 in the state of Texas. As part of Texas Parks and Wildlife’s ShareLunker program, Legacy Class bass must be at least 13 pounds, and then are used as part of the breeding program to help stock Texas lakes around the state.
The first one of the year was caught by Tom Nilssen on O.H. Ivie Lake near San Angelo, Texas.
Is it time to move to Texas? I think so…
