Sara Evans’ Husband Jay Barker Arrested For Trying To Hit Her With His Car

According to CBS 42, former Alabama quarterback and radio host Jay Barker was arrested after allegedly trying to hit his wife, early 2000s country star Sara Evans, with his car.

He was booked into Davidson County Jail and charged with felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Police arrived to the Nashville home at 1:30 a.m. on Saturday.

According to the arrest affidavit, Evans said she was leaving a party at her neighbor’s house when she got in the passenger seat of a friend’s car to ride across the street. Barker was reported to be “backing up his vehicle at a high rate of speed attempting to hit them but missed.”

Evans, as well as other witnesses, claimed he was intentionally trying to hit them.

Barker drove away, Evans called the police, however Barker came back and spoke with officers and was eventually arrested.

The couple was married in 2008, however according to the arrest report, they have separated and are not living together.

Barker was National Championship winning  quarterback with Alabama in the ’90s and made a couple NFL rosters briefly during his career, but never played a game.

He’s currently the co-host of  “The Jay Barker Show,” which has aired on 100.9 FM since 2018.

Sara Evans Career In Country Music

Evans is of course known for country hits like “Suds In The Bucket,” “Born To Fly,” “A Little Bit Stronger” and more.

She achieved her first #1 single in 1998 with “No Place That Far,” and went on to notch four more chart-topping hits. Her 2005 album Real Fine Place, as well as her 2011 album, Stronger, both went #1 on the Billboard Country Albums Chart.

In 2006 she won an ACM Awards for Top Female Vocalist.

In 2019, she released an EP with her daughters as a trio called The Barker Family Band.
