Post Malone is giving fans another sneak peek of Eternal Buzz, and it certainly sounds like the talented artist is going back to his hip-hop sound.
After venturing into the country music genre with F-1 Trillion in 2024, there’s been a lot of talk about whether or not the 31-year-old artist would “stay a while,” or if he’d go back to the style that made him a superstar in the first place. When news broke that Posty was working on an expansive 40-song project, many assumed it’d be a hip-hop venture, just because F-1 Trillion’s “Long Bed” version delivered 27 country tracks with plenty of features.
There’s also the theory that it’s going to be a split album, with 20 songs falling within the hip-hop/pop genre, and 20 in country. That’s my personal favorite theory.
But so far, the snippets we’ve heard of two songs expected to be a part of Eternal Buzz are all the way original Post Malone. He revealed “Chrome Heartbreaker” before the World Cup final in New Jersey back in July, and that one undoubtedly leans towards his rap roots. Then today, he shared a portion of song presumably titled “Bad Mood,” and that one also seems to be… well, not country:
“‘Eternal Buzz’ coming soon. Love you mofo’s.”
So for those keeping score at home, that’s two early looks at two songs that certainly don’t sound like what Post Malone brought to the table with F-1 Trillion.
However, that doesn’t mean that country music won’t be included in Eternal Buzz. One of the biggest indicators that a rap-country album could be on the way is the large collection of unreleased songs penned by the likes of Post himself, Ernest, Miranda Lambert and Rhett Akins, as well as frequent Morgan Wallen co-writers, Ryan Vojtesak, Louis Bell and Chandler Walters, which were found in ASCAP’s ACE Repertory.
Wouldn’t want all of those songs to go to waste, eh?
The conversation surrounding his decision to either remain in country music or return to his roots will likely continue until we get official word from Posty himself.
Speculation has been buzzing (pun intended) since Malone shared this image back in April, which showed the plan for a massive, 40-song record that was noticeably split right down the middle, in terms of tracklists.
Could Disc 1 be rap and Disc 2 be country? We already know one genre is going to be present… so we’ll keep an ear to the ground to see if Posty brings back his country side for Eternal Buzz as well:
I’d like to know what Post Malone’s definition of “coming soon” is.
Like I said, that post right there is from April, and we haven’t gotten much in terms of updates since then. Post Malone’s teaser for “Bad Mood” is only the second hint of Eternal Buzz that we’ve gotten, and the message that was shared along with it also said the album was “coming soon.”
We’re obviously closer to the release now than we were in April… but the exact release date – and the album’s contents – is still very much a mystery.
