Philadelphia Family Hosting Over 1,000 People On “Sky Deck” Platform In Their Backyard To Watch The 2026 PGA Championship

Nothing like watching professional golf from your own, backyard “party deck.”

Golf’s second major championship is officially here. The 2026 PGA Championship at Aronimink Golf Club in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is underway, and professional golfers like Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, and Jordan Spieth are all competing for the title of 2026 PGA Champion.

All eyes are on Aronimink Golf Club this week as the competition heats up now and runs through the weekend. Players will obviously be walking and playing inside the ropes. Fans will walk on the grounds – and outside the ropes – as long as they pay for a ticket. Golf enthusiasts will tune in on television from all across the world.

And believe it or not, there’s one other way that people will be watching.

Thanks to Dylan Dethier, a writer from Golf Magazine, the social media world got a special look at how one homeowner near Aronimink Golf Club handled the privacy fencing that the PGA put up around the entire course. Behind the 14th hole’s tee box, some fans had a viewing platform built, and its height allow for them to see all of the action… without the price of admission:

“Behind Aronimink’s 14th tee someone has built an enormous platform in their backyard. Incredible to place to watch the PGA. Also unlocks an entirely new level of golf bro.”

They aren’t the only ones that thought of that.

A Pennsylvania resident by the name Sean Bellew, an attorney, owns a very nice home that sits on first hole at Aronimink Golf Club. His set up got the attention of the local news, and a reporter went out to see the “Sky Deck” that has been five years in the making for Sean Bellew. He told CBS Philadelphia that he’s planned this viewing platform ever since he and his family moved into the home five or so years ago.

Now, they are hosting a ton of guests over the weekend, over, 1,o00 guests to be exact, and all of them are taking in the sights and sounds of the PGA Championship:

“We have a great view because we can hear the tee shots and we can see them land. Then we see their approach shot and then we see them putt out. We get to stand still and watch the whole field come past us.”

Seems pretty ideal, and all just feet away from their back door.

Sean Bellew’s son, Aidan, was also interviewed by the news. It’s his answers that have garnered some viral buzz. Aidan just turned 21, and when CBS asked if they were going to party hard on the “Sky Deck,” the young man insisted that they’ll keep things calm and collected:

“Not too many drinks are going to be flowing. We’re respectful of the course, respectful of the players, have ourselves a good time. You guys have nothing to worry about over here.”

When Aidan was asked later in the interview who he was most excited to see, he named a couple of the biggest names in golf… and then got very passionate about one pro golfer’s religious beliefs:

“Of course I gotta say Scottie Scheffler. Another one I’ve been looking out for is Cam Young. A great practicing Catholic with a great family. If you are out there Cam, we are having church here on Sunday, feel free to stop by.”

I know it’s hard to believe, but Aidan Bellew has become a social media star because of his interview.

Good to see that there are still nice, courteous, Catholic practicing families out there. The Bellews are going to make the most of their weekend – and their location – by hosting a “Sky Deck” party right next to Aronimink Golf Club. If you tune into coverage and hear someone yelling at Cam Young about Catholicism… I bet I could tell you who it is.
