Golf Fans Go Viral For Building Viewing Platform To See Over Fence At 2026 PGA Championship

Just guys being dudes.

Golf’s second major championship is officially here. The 2026 PGA Championship at Aronimink Golf Club in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and professional golfers like Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, and Jordan Spieth are all competing for the title of 2026 PGA Champion.

McIlroy is trying to win back-to-back majors after emerging victorious at The Masters earlier this year.

All eyes are on Aronimink Golf Club this week as the competition begins today (May 14) and runs through the weekend. Players will obviously be walking and playing inside the ropes. Fans will walk on the grounds – and outside the ropes – as long as they pay for a ticket. Golf enthusiasts will tune in on television from all across the world.

And believe it or not, there’s one other way that people will be watching.

Thanks to Dylan Dethier, a writer from Golf Magazine, the social media world got a special look at how one homeowner near Aronimink Golf Club handled the privacy fencing that the PGA put up around the entire course. Behind the 14th hole’s tee box, some fans had a viewing platform built, and its height allow for them to see all of the action… without the price of admission:

“Behind Aronimink’s 14th tee someone has built an enormous platform in their backyard. Incredible to place to watch the PGA. Also unlocks an entirely new level of golf bro.”

Next level thinking.

Who knows if the PGA Championship will do something about that, or if they’ll just let slide. If that’s the group’s backyard, and they just so happened to build the towering viewing platform on their property, I’m not sure what the PGA could really do, if anything at all (but I still wouldn’t be surprised if they somehow raised the privacy fence in that specific area).

The move by the golf fans nearby Aronimink Golf Club has garnered a lot of applause from the social media community:

It’s a wonderful idea, and they’ll have the perfect view of the 150-plus competitors that are taking on the Philadelphia-area golf course.

Some golfers they won’t see from their viewing platform? That’d be John Daly, Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods. Those former PGA Championship winners are not in the field, but there’s still plenty of talent and fire power out on the course. The PGA Championship is currently underway and will conclude on Sunday, May 17 with one golfer lifting up the iconic Wanamaker Trophy.
