And I’m mad Reba never called me after I saw her in 1996.
It’s been nearly a year since the “Coldplay kiss cam” incident nearly broke the internet in one of the most viral moments of 2025.
I’m sure you remember what happened: Back in July of last year during a Coldplay concert at Gillette Stadium, an awkward moment unfolded while the band was spotlighting audience members on their “kiss cam.” The camera caught a man and woman holding each other, but quickly scrambling and trying to hide their faces once they realized they were on the big screen.
At the time, Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin even joked that they might be having an affair. But it turns out he was right, because the couple were later identified as Andy Byron, the CEO of tech firm Astronomer, and Kristin Cabot, the company’s HR chief. Both were married to other people at the time, though Cabot later said that she was separated from her now-ex-husband at the time of the incident.
Well the viral moment led to both Byron and Cabot being forced out of the company, and in the aftermath Astronomer even released a new ad featuring Gwyneth Paltrow…the ex-wife of Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin.
Messy.
The incident has been talked about ad nauseum since it happened, with artists making jokes about it on stage whenever the camera pans to the crowd and even Pepsi poking fun at the viral moment with their 2026 Super Bowl ad.
But apparently the one person who hasn’t said anything to Cabot about it is Chris Martin himself.
TMZ recently caught up with the woman in the middle of the scandal. Why? Who knows. That’s what TMZ does, but it doesn’t seem like a random HR lady who got caught having an affair with her boss is really the kind of celebrity who needs to have paparazzi following her around.
Anyway, Cabot was asked about the scandal – I mean, what else are you really going to ask her about? – and whether she had heard from Coldplay at all in the midst of the viral moment. And she revealed that Martin never reached out to her:
“No. Nope, never did.”
Cabot said she would have appreciated if Coldplay had tried to reach out to her, and that she has no interest in going to another one of their concerts. (Probably a smart move on her part).
But after the interview, a lot of people are asking: Why the hell would she expect Chris Martin, or anybody with Coldplay, to reach out to her? She got caught having an affair at their concert.
Is she expecting an apology or something? I think everybody knows that if you’re out in public cuddling with someone you shouldn’t be with, there’s a chance you’re going to get caught. And if you go to a concert or a sporting event, there’s always a chance you’re going to end up on the jumbotron. Most people even love seeing themselves on the big screen and there are always those who are trying to find the camera.
What, exactly, was she expecting from Chris Martin? What would you want him to say if he did reach out?
Just a bizarre reaction to a situation that she created herself.
