Rip Wheeler & Beth Dutton Could Make A Cameo Appearance On New ‘Yellowstone’ Spinoff Series, ‘Marshals’

Luke Grimes Kayce Dutton culture

Will we see fan-favorite Yellowstone character Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) in the new Marshals spinoff, which stars her onscreen brother Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton? It sounds like it’s certainly a possibility…

Last night, the latest Yellowstone spinoff series officially premiered on CBS, and (spoiler alert), it was confirmed what many who have been paying attention to the promo materials already knew… Monica Dutton, who was played by Kelsey Asbille in Yellowstone, is dead.

They thought through how they wanted Monica to go very carefully, as showrunner, writer and executive producer Spencer Hudnut explained in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, and it certainly sets up Kayce to face a whole new slew of challenges both personally and professionally.

Of course, this new spinoff is focused on Kayce, and there are plans for Beth and Rip to have their own spinoff show called The Dutton Ranch, which is scheduled for release on Paramount+ in 2026, but that doesn’t necessarily mean we won’t see them, or at least Beth, on Marshals.

Hudnut says he would love to have Beth and Rip appear on Marshals, explaining that he and Luke have already talked about, though of course the challenge would be having the “stars align” enough with their respective busy filming schedules actually align. He seemed confident that viewers will see siblings Kayce and Beth together again onscreen at some point, though:

“Yeah, I think if the stars aligned that would be pretty cool to have Beth and Rip in our world. Luke and I have talked about it. I think it’s really just having these two productions, and trying to figure that out would be the challenge.

But I certainly think the Yellowstone audience deserves seeing Kayce and his sister together, again, at some point. They ended Yellowstone at a really good place, and they both have lost so much family that it would seem like their bond would be even stronger than ever.”

Kayce and Beth were some of the few characters that almost always had a good relationship throughout Yellowstone, and considering Kayce has just suffered such a huge loss, it would make sense that he will at some point see his family, and I’m sure Yellowstone fans would be happy to see them all together onscreen again.

And in terms of the potential for a love interest for Kayce Dutton this season, Hudnut says the first part of the season will follow Kayce as he continues to grieve the loss of Monica, but he noted that it has been “over a year” since she passed, hinting that there will be “some possibilities” for a new relationship as the show goes on:

“I do think the first part of the season is him trying to figure out how to let go of Monica. Over a year has passed. So I think if he’s able to achieve that, it will open him up to some possibilities.”

I’m thinking Andrea Cruz, one of the US marshals Kayce’s working with who is played by Ash Santos, is probably going to become some sort of love interest for him this season based on the way they’re already setting them on in the first episode, but only time will tell…

Marshals airs on Sunday evening on CBS, and you can stream it the following day on Paramount+. Check out the trailer here:
