The funniest part about this joke? It just might be the truth.
I hate to say it, but the Super Bowl hasn’t been all that super. There wasn’t a ton of hype leading up to the Seattle Seahawks-New England Patriots Super Bowl, and now we know it was for good reason. It was widely believed that the Seahawks and their defense would be able to control the game in Super Bowl LX, and that they did.
Either that, or the New England Patriots were the frauds that many thought they were as they coasted into the “Big Game” on an easy regular season schedule and a not-that-challenging postseason (they did show some life in the second half). Though it isn’t a complete blowout, it sure feels like one, as the New England Patriots only racked up 51 yards the entire first half:
Regardless of the reasoning for the bad product on the field in the NFL’s biggest moment, the jokes were flying after Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl Halftime Show.
The Puerto Rican superstar came out for his performance in somewhat of a football jersey (not sure what to call it), was possibly wearing shoulder pads, and held on to a football for much of his set.
As you can see here:
Did you happen to read the joke included in that above post?
One could call the jab low-hanging fruit… but I prefer to call it hilariously true. As Bad Bunny marched around the field in Santa Clara, California (sometimes with a football in hand, sometimes not), there’s no doubt that he surpassed the 51-yard mark that the New England Patriots set in the first half.
And the internet used the opportunity to roast the Patriots:
Bad Bunny just picked up more yards than the Patriots did in the first half.

You love to see it.
The New England Patriots have historically had plenty of shining moments in the Super Bowl. It’s okay that they laid an egg in the “Big Game,” and Patriots fans can wipe away their tears with all of their commemorative Tom Brady-era Super Bowl t-shirts. Even if you didn’t watch the Bad Bunny Super Bowl Halftime Show, the staging for his show birthed a meme that hit New England fans where it hurt.
And all joking aside, despite the halftime show being entirely in Spanish, and one that most of the viewing audience couldn’t even understand, it wasn’t overly political, or divisive, as many feared. And at the end, the football that spawned all of the jokes on social media did end up trying to display a more unifying message:
“Together, We Are America.”
