Vincent Neil Emerson is kicking off 2026 with a brand new single. The Texas native is not only a songwriting mastermind but is also rooted in tradition. He keeps the traditional sound of guys like Townes Van Zandt and Guy Clark alive, while still carving out his own sound.
“I think I’ve always gravitated towards artists that are honest about what they’re doing. It’s the most important thing because people have a chance to connect to a little more if you’re telling the truth.”

2025 was a slow year for Emerson with new music, but the man was hard at work, spending a good bit of time on the road taking his music to all the corners of the United States, and that trend of being a road dog is not slowing down in 2026 as he’s gearing up to hit the road for his The Red Horse tour.
But while Emerson was putting releasing new music on the back burner for 2025, that did not mean that he wasn’t in the studio working. The “Rodeo Clown” singer was hard at work recording a record that will be released later this year, per a recent social media post:
“Been a real great year. Been a real sh**ty year too. We live for the good days, and we get through the rest. Thankfully, my good days are better than my bad ones. That hasn’t always been the case, but somewhere along the way we hit a stroke of good fortune. Just gotta remember that. Thank y’all for always showing up. Can’t wait to ring in the new year here at home tonight and hit the road next year. Also can’t wait to drop this new record in 26…”
To kick off the new year, Emerson surprised fans with a taste of what’s in store for his next chapter of music, releasing a new single titled “The Great Highway.” The song, appropriately named, is an ode to those who spend large chunks of time on the road chasing yellow and white lines. The tune is a true musician’s anthem, as their life includes a lot of truck stops, green rooms, and hearing the humming of tires on the asphalt.
It’s a life that can lead to exhaustion, but it’s worth every ache, as you live the ultimate dream of performing your tunes in front of fans each night.
