Last month, Treaty Oak Revival headlined the second-annual Red Bull Jukebox show in Nashville, where the set list is decided by fans prior to the performance, as they vote online for the songs, and in what style, they want to hear the music. It’s a really cool concept, and it sounds like the fans at the show have impeccable taste, as they voted for Treaty Oak to play a cover of Blink-182’s “All the Small Things.”
Of course, the song was released as the second single and eighth track released from the band’s third album in 1999, Enema of the State. The track was mostly written by guitarist and vocalist Tom DeLonge for his then-girlfriend, and it was recorded in Los Angeles and created to be a very catchy, radio-friendly single.
Well, that certainly a smart strategy, as the song quickly became a number one hit on Billboard’s Modern Rock Tracks chart, peaking at number two on the UK Singles Chart, and crossing over to pop radio and peaking at number six on the Billboard Hot 100. It’s still the band’s most successful single to date, being their only song to enter the top 40, and an all-time hit, transcending the pop punk world into the upper echelon of American classics.
If you grew up in the 90s or early 2000s, it’s probably as nostalgic for you as it is for me, and I don’t think there are many songs that can get a crowd going like this… and considering Treaty Oak Revivals heavy post-grunge influence, this kind of pop-punk sound just fits them so well and I think it’s clear by the crowd reaction just how excited they were to hear it.
The band released the full performance video on YouTube today, and if you haven’t seen any clips of this cover on social media yet, definitely check it out because I think you’ll be impressed.
Frontman Sam Canty gave a rousing introduction:
“We haven’t played this song in a long f****** time, the last time we did was in some s*** dive bar and everybody f****** loved it.”
And that certainly still looked to be the case… I only wish I could’ve seen it in person. They need to make this a regular part of their set.
This year, the band has found incredible success, including the release of their highly-anticipated new album West Texas Degenerate, which became their first #1 on Billboard’s Top Rock Albums and Americana/Folk Albums charts. It’s of course the biggest debut of their career so far, and the album also debuted at #2 on Billboard’s Top Rock & Alternative Albums chart, #3 on Top Country Albums chart, #21 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart, and #30 on Top Billboard Canadian Albums, with each previously unreleased song taking over the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart.
2026 is already shaping up to be a huge year, as they already announced an extensive tour, and as you can tell from the video below, they put on an incredible live show that you don’t want to miss.
