What it’s all about.
It’s been a busy year for Parker McCollum. In addition to releasing his self-titled, fifth studio album back in June, the Texas native also had the honor of performing at President Donald Trump’s inaugural ball in January, along with co-hosting Better Together Texas and raising over $8.5 million for flood relief with Miranda Lambert in August.
As summer concert season slowly comes to a close with the fall creeping in, the “Pretty Heart” singer is making the most of the select dates remaining on his 2025 tour.
Over the weekend, McCollum, along with opener Hudson Westbrook, made their way to State College, Pennsylvania, for a sold-out show at the Bryce James Center.
If you recall, McCollum originally played in State College all the way back in January during the start of the tour. The set, however, was cut short after six songs and ultimately rescheduled due to McCollum being sick throughout the show. After the original January show, he would take to TikTok to address fans, telling them he tried his best to power through it before announcing a makeup show would be scheduled at a later date.
Days later, he’d take to social media again to announce that the show would be rescheduled to October 2nd with the promise of a completely different concert with updated production and new songs from his aforementioned self-titled album:
“I want to apologize to all my fans in State College for having to cut the show short due to illness. We have rescheduled the concert for Oct. 2, 2025, and I promise to bring you an even better show with new songs and production. Thank you for your understanding and support.”
During the cancelled January show, McCollum met one of his biggest fans, a four-year-old girl named Rylee, and promised her that she could sing the song with him on stage. As we know, he had to stop the show before he could bring her up on stage. And this was something that weighed heavily on him, even as he was violently ill earlier in the year. In an exclusive livestream with his fan club, Gold Chain Nation, he said would fulfill his promise during the rescheduled show.
“I thought about that while I was laying there puking my guts out all night on my bus, the most violently ill I’ve ever been. I would absolutely love to have her sing. I literally thought about that while I was throwing up. I was like, ‘That little girl is gonna think I’m the worst ever.’ In fact, I looked her in the eye and said, ‘Yes, you can get on stage.’ And [I] didn’t even play the rest of the show.”
Flash forward to this weekend, and the concert finally went off without a hitch. Taking to the stage, McCollum delivered a set chalked full of past hits such as “Hell of a Year,” “Stoned,” “Pretty Heart” and “What Kinda Man.” The most memorable moment of the night, however, came when he fulfilled his promise and performed his 2023 #1 hit, “Burn It Down” with Rylee.
Making her long-awaited debut on stage with the 33-year-old singer/songwriter, Rylee would say “hi” to the crowd before McCollum joined her to perform the most adorable rendition of the #1 hit to date.
Rylee’s mother, Austyn, would note in the TikTok caption that she didn’t even notice the sold-out crowd at Bryce James Center and was only focused on Parker.
“My girl got her moment! She was SO sleepy but said she didn’t even notice all the people, was only looking at Parker.”
