Zach Top Says Drinking Fresh Coors Was The Highlight Of His Life During Red Rocks Headlining Debut

Crackin’ jokes at his Red Rocks debut.

The ’90s traditionalist behind Ain’t In It For My Health is still riding a high after making his debut at the famed Colorado venue Red Rocks. Zach Top took the stage at the amphitheater nestled in the mountains with his rocking band to deliver country music gold to the crowd.

The two-night run was filled with great music as fellow classic country colleague Jake Worthington opened for Top. Talk about a dream Red Rocks lineup, am I right?

During his set, Top performed his catalog of viral hits like “Use Me,” “I Never Lie,” and “Sounds Like The Radio.” Top also reached outside of his catalog (as he usually does) and delivered a masterclass of covering a wide range of classic hits, ranging from Ricky Skaggs’ “Don’t Cheat In Our Hometown,” Guitarist Cheynne Dalton threw down with Shania Twain’s “Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?” and Merle Haggard’s “I Think I’ll Just Stay Here And Drink.”

One standout cover from the second night of the show was his rendition of Conway Twitty’s “Slow Hand.”

Zach Top was pulling out all of the stops for these two shows at the famed venue. Zach Top was also pulling out the charm with his personality and jokes while interacting with the crowd between songs.

During one portion of the show, Zach Top told the crowd that while he was in Colorado, he visited the Coors brewery in Golden, Colorado, which is just a short 15-minute drive from Morrison. Zach Top is an avid fan of Coors Banquet, often spotted on stage with a yellow jacket near his microphone stand to wet his whistle when needed.

So visiting the place that is responsible for his favorite beer is a dream come true. As he is telling the audience about this, he details one part of the brewery tour to the crowd that he feels is the highlight of his life, drinking Coors beer straight from the “pigtail,” which is a spout that allows you to get a controlled flow of carbonated beer in a sample cup without vast amounts of foam.

“(There’s) a pitcher and he starts filling it up out of this thing they call the pigtail. Which I thought was pretty cool. They fill it up out of this little spout, start pouring us glasses of it, and we got to taste it. (The) freshest beer you could ever drink, before it ever goes to a can or a bottle.

And I thought, ‘Buddy, this is like the Lord’s faucet right here.’ The Lord’s garden hose. Remember drinking garden hose water as a child?”

Oh boy, do I remember that feeling of drinking out of a water hose. Somehow, that water was always ice cold and had a natural taste that made it feel like it was fresh from a spring (even though it was far from well water).

He continues:

“I thought this is as close as I’m going to get to that feeling as an adult. ‘Mr. Coors, may I please drink straight out of the Lord’s garden hose?’ So I did. I got down on one knee, and he opened the spout wide open. I drank all I could drink.

And that was the highlight of my life. Tonight’s pretty cool, too. But I just want to let you know that it’s pretty much all downhill from here.”

HA.

While Top is obviously pulling the crowd’s leg with that statement, I do not doubt that drinking Coors from a pigtail is probably a close second to headlining Red Rocks for Top. Some of life’s little moments really are the little things, eh?

Zach Top is laying down ’90s country gold and delivering punchlines that can kill. Check it out:
