Charley Crockett Sends Gavin Adcock Roses & A Copy Of His New Album Ahead Of Kansas Show

A peace offering?

The big news in country music this week has been the feud between Charley Crockett and Gavin Adcock.

It all started when Charley took to social media and unleashed an epic rant on the state of country music, taking aim at “bro country” and defending BeyoncĂ© from critics who point the finger at the pop star for ruining country music, while also calling out Morgan Wallen for admitting that he doesn’t listen to much country music:

“Hey country folks. BeyoncĂ© ain’t the source of your discontent. It was 25 years of bro country. The number one country artist on Earth listens to nothing but rap. Openly says he doesn’t really know any country music. Gotta respect his honesty.

The machine points to a black woman who’s making a statement about marginalized people being removed from the conversation altogether, and somehow we all act like the entire pop industry didn’t just ambush roots music. These ‘country boys’ been singing over trap beats for years.

So what’s different now? Authenticity. Many of those business folks called me early on. They had whole albums pre-written and recorded ready to just plug me in. I have receipts. It’s harder than ever to keep the public’s attention. They said and I quote, ‘We wanna get into country music where you have audience loyalty.’ Hot today, forgot tomorrow.

I don’t need to put down a black woman to advance my music. That’s just embarrassing to the idea of America and I got no respect for it.”

Many obviously saw that last part as a shot at Gavin Adcock, who’s been outspoken about his belief that BeyoncĂ©’s Cowboy Carter album should not be considered “country,” including at a show over the summer when Adcock told the crowd:

“There are only three people in front of me on the Apple Music country charts. And one of ’em is BeyoncĂ©. You can tell her we’re coming for her f***ing a**. That s**t ain’t country music and it’s never ever been country music and it will never be country music.”

After the rant, Adcock predictably received some backlash, but he stood strong:

“I’m gonna go ahead and clear this up. When  I was little, my mama was blasting a ton of BeyoncĂ© in the car. I heard a ton of BeyoncĂ© songs, and I actually remember her Super Bowl halftime show being pretty kick a** back in the day.

But I really don’t believe her album should be labeled as country music. It doesn’t sound country, it doesn’t feel country, and I just don’t think that people who have dedicated their whole lives to this genre and lifestyle should have to compete or watch that album just stay at the top just because she’s BeyoncĂ©.”

Then, when he received even more backlash, he doubled down yet again:

“Ah, I was lying here all night. Dreaming. And I just wanted to wake up and tell y’all that s**t ain’t country.”

Well after the shot from Charley Crockett, Gavin took to social media to respond, calling Crockett a “cosplay cowboy.”

“Somebody needs to tell the “act” that has let out (the cover) of James town ferry 6 times he should just work on letting out quality original music.

I got more cowsh-t under my pinky then you have seen your whole f—in life.

Hank sr called and asked about the cosplay cowboy”

And over on Instagram, Gavin called Charley his “dipsh-t of the week,” while also comparing him to the The Ghoul from the Fallout television series…which I don’t think was meant to be a compliment.

But it seems like Charley might be trying to make peace.

Gavin is set to play WAVE in Wichita, Kansas tonight. And who was also in Kansas last night? Charley Crockett.

Funny how that works out, eh?

Well apparently before he left town, Charley left a present for Gavin: 60 roses and a copy of his new album, Dollar A Day, on vinyl.

Maybe there’s hope for the two getting along (or at least co-existing) after all. Or maybe Charley was just continuing to troll Gavin…I guess time will tell.
