The duo we deserve.
Sierra Ferrell has been opening for Post Malone on the American leg of his Big A** Stadium tour, along with Jelly Roll, both of whom were featured on Post’s 2024 debut country album F-1 Trillion.
Sierra was featured on my favorite song on the album “Never Love You Again,” which was written by Louis Bell, Ryan Vojtesak, Chris Tompkins and Rhett Akins, it was exactly what I was hoping for in terms of what Post Malone would sound like as a country artist, and turning it into a duet with Sierra just takes it to a whole other level.
Featuring heavy fiddle and woozy steel, Post laments a breakup and the aftermath of love lost, asking for forgiveness from this girl even though he knows he’s ultimately leaving and never looking back, because “this ain’t no cowboy Western.”
I’m obsessed with that line:
“Saw the Bible on the dresser
Save some forgiveness for me
Baby this ain’t no old cowboy Western
‘Cuz I won’t be looking back when I leave
It’s a long lost highway
And this road ain’t my friend
I’ll love you til tomorrow
And I’ll never love you again”
Their voices actually blend surprisingly well together, a this week during a show where Post owns a home and lives in Salt Lake City, Sierra brought him out to surprise the crowd with a duet of their aforementioned duet.
Sierra was performing at Library Square as part of the Twilight Concert Series at a stop on her 2025 Shoot For the Moon tour, and they treated the crowd to a beautiful performance. They sound great, and I really hope we get another duet from them in the future because oddly enough, they’re a great match and word is that Post wants to make his next album even more country, which means Ferrell absolutely must be included:
