Now THAT’S how you do an Easter egg hunt.

Last fall, Hurricane Helene hit western North Carolina hard and devastated many in the western NC mountains, leaving so many without shelter, their most precious belongings, and many lost family members and close friends, leaving the area feeling lost and hopeless.

In the wake of the horrific event, many stepped up, like natives Luke Combs and Eric Church, in addition to many in the NASCAR community, like retired driver Greg Biffle. The former NASCAR driver used his private helicopter to deliver supplies and Starlink internet to those who were stranded and cut off due to the storm and resulting floods in the immediate aftermath of the storm.

It all started when Biffle received a message from a friend about a family who was stranded and needed supplies, and he is a licensed helicopter pilot:

“They were renting an Airbnb, so obviously they only had a couple days of food. It’s not like they lived there where most households would have extra supplies. They were with two young kids. They were out of food. They were out of formula. They were out of water. And there’s no power, and they’d been there for a couple of days and really needed to get out. So that’s really how this whole thing started.”

Biffle and fellow racer and YouTube personality Cleetus McFarland helped organize tons of flights to deliver supplies to those in need, while providing updates and requests for help on his social media, and he was recognized by the sport for his incredible humanitarian efforts, and deservedly so.

And today, Biffle and some of his friends returned to the NC mountains via helicopter for a special Easter delivery, with the Easter bunny in the passenger seat, to air drop over one thousand Easter eggs to kids in Black Mountain, which is one of the areas that was hit hardest by Hurricane Helene. It’s unimaginable what many of these kids and families have been through since last fall, so for him to go out of his way to bring joy and some normalcy to everyone in such a cool way is just awesome, and I’m sure it’s something the kids, and parents, will remember forever:

To see a helicopter bringing so much joy, compared to what it meant less than a year ago, is a promise of hope and selfless love, something beautiful to see any day, but especially on a day as special as Easter Sunday.

Biffle shared part of the journey on Instagram, which you can watch here:
