I’d be praying like my life depended on it, so she probably was too… I mean, I wouldn’t have even considered doing this whole space trip thing.
This morning, six women took a Blue Origin rocket into outer space for an 11-minute space flight, which included Gayle King, Katy Perry, Amanda Nguyen, Aisha Bowe, Lauren Sánchez and Kerianne Flynn. Katy Perry has been making a lot of headlines leading up to the trip, and all of them seemed excited about this wild adventure… well, everyone except for CBS News co-host, the aforementioned Gayle King.
Honestly, saying they actually went into outer space is sorta of a stretch because Blue Origin takes you to the edge of space. Blue Origin takes passengers to the Kármán line, the 62-mile (100 km) altitude considered the boundary of space. However, Blue Origin’s New Shepard are not ships that orbit Earth like the traditional NASA rocket launches we see. And just for reference, the international Space Station orbits at around 250 miles from the Earth’s surface.

At 9:30 am, the rocket took off, and the flight was a complete success, but as someone who also hates (probably not even a strong enough word) to fly, I sympathize with her and that’s why I can’t even believe she agreed to it. She has to be getting something incredible out of this from her employer, I imagine:

Perry made headlines again when they returned to earth, laying down and kissing the ground, but it was King’s reaction walking up to the rocket that has also been getting some attention online. The news anchor notoriously hates to fly, and she was spotted ringing the bell walking out before the trip looking absolutely horrified beyond belief.
The other ladies almost skipped down the runway, ringing the bell while flashing huge smiles… but Gayle looked like she was actually about to pass out:
They all made it back safe and sound, but everyone couldn’t help but notice how much Gayle clearly did not want to do this… and I don’t blame her. It’s honestly shocking she was talked into it, and that contract better include a huge bonus for the emotional turmoil alone:
“Gayle looks how I feel for her.”
“Totally feeling Gayle thinking ‘Why….?'”
“Did Gayle really go to space? I thought she hated to fly??”
“Gayle like ‘This is so unnecessary.'”
“Oooo, Gayle looks like she’s praying to God with that bell.”
“Gayle look scared af.”
“Gayle is STRESSED OUT!!!! She does NOT what to do this!!”
“Gayle don’t want to do this.”
“Gayle just realized that this is for real.”
“Gayle was not happy about getting on that rocket.”
“Oh poor Gayle, she looks like she’s about to have a meltdown! Best of luck!”
“Gayle looks scared scared”
“Gayle said who signed me up for this ish!”
“Gayle is looking scared and ‘Why did I let them talk me into this.'”
“Lmao Gayle you ain’t gotta go sis.”
“Gayle looking nervous.”
“Gayle looks scared, I hope she’s wearing a diaper.”
“Gayle look shook!”
Gayle talked about the trip when they got back on the ground, where she revealed that Katy Perry sang “What A Wonderful World” when they got up to the boundary of where they were going, looking much more relieved than she did in the previous video:

More power to her for actually doing it and going through with it… but I doubt it’s anything that will happen again and like I said, she better get an out of this world bonus at the end of this year… sorry, I had to.
Gayle King is SO damn glad that she’s back on solid land! 😂😂😂 pic.twitter.com/RiHJG5n3f6
